Abhijit Lokre

Abhijit is the co-founder of TUL Foundation and leads efforts towards creating safer and more resilient cities. He is very passionate about road safety and is involved in conceptualising programs related to pedestrian safety, influencing driver behaviour through safe design, and advising various state and local governments about the need to focus on reducing fatalities through road crashes. He also works on issues related to climate change, greenhouse gas emissions and public health.

Abhijit is also the founding partner at The Urban Lab – a consultancy firm focused on creating liveable cities.  Here, he mentors young professionals in engaging with decision-makers, think tanks, funding agencies and research organisations to experiment with ideas and thoughts on making our cities truly world-class. He has worked on several planning, designing and policy-related research and consultancy projects across India. These include street designs, parking policies, mobility plans, freight plans, NMT designs and policies, etc.

Abhijit completed his Doctoral Research from CEPT University in 2018, a Master’s degree in Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Pune University.  He teaches as a visiting faculty member at CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

Shelly Kulshrestha

Shelly Kulshrestha is a practitioner and learner in the area of urban management and planning for over twenty years. Aligning with the TUL Foundation’s mission to create safe and livable cities for all, she provides leadership for conducting evidence-based research and outreach activities. She is responsible for ensuring a motivated space for people to co-create and contribute towards the mission. At TUL Foundation, she is committed to fostering an environment of partnerships to  bring transformation at the grassroots level. She is engaged in ideating, developing programs, and activities for undertaking research and advocacy in areas of urban mobility, road safety, climate change, participatory governance, and inclusive planning. 

Shelly is a visiting professor at the Faculty of Management, CEPT University. She engages with students to identify efficient and inclusive practices for dealing with complex and multidimensional urban issues. Shelly has a PhD in urban planning from CEPT University. In her doctoral research, she explored why participatory governance remains a contested area when it comes to implementation in urban areas. She graduated with a degree in environmental planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Shelly enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, and reading.

Neha Pathak

Neha is leading the road-safety and climate resilience based research work at the TUL Foundation. Her work involves developing the vision of the TUL Foundation along with leading the research projects. Her research work focuses on road safety, pedestrial rights, insights to nduge uptake of sustainable modes in indian Cities. She has extensively works on capacity building of the decision-makers responsible for developing and implementing urban transport solutions through advocacy, workshops, and knowledge dessiminantion sessions. She has been part of the TUL Foundation since the conception of the organsation. She has worked in partnership with the trustees to develop a passionate team that is driven to creating an impact and enable safe, resilient, and inclusive cities. 

Neha is a transport planner and a civil engineer. She has completed her MSc in Transport and City Planning from University College London (UCL) and her Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from CEPT University. Over the last ten years, Neha has worked in the field of transportation planning, design, research, and advocacy. She is an ardent traveller and a reader.

Pratha Bisani

Pratha is at the forefront of inclusivity-based research projects at the TUL Foundation. Her work involves ideating advocacy and awareness programs under the TUL Foundation’s inclusive mobility and resilient city programs. She has undertaken stakeholder consultations and assessments, engaging city authorities, professionals, academicians, students, and citizens to promote awareness and advocate for inclusive and resilient practices. She actively participates in initiatives and research work that drives meaningful change at the grassroots level. 

Before joining TUL Foundation, Pratha worked at Ernst and Young in Ahmedabad, wherein she undertook transaction advisory and supported government agencies across the country. She has completed her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Anna University and her PostGraduate Master’s in Management Studies (Urban Management) from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Beyond her professional endeavors, Pratha enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends during her leisure time.

Siddhi Soni

Siddhi is at the forefront of sustainable mobility-based research projects at the TUL Foundation. Her work involves ideating advocacy and awareness programs under the TUL Foundation’s road safety program. She has organized various events and workshops, engaging city authorities, professionals, academicians, students, and citizens to promote awareness and advocate for safe road practices. She actively participates in initiatives and research work that drives meaningful change at the grassroots level.

Before joining TUL Foundation, Siddhi worked at INI Design Studio in Ahmedabad. She prepared Transit Oriented Zone Reports for AUDA and assisted in the concept development of projects like the Central Vista Redevelopment Project in New Delhi. She has completed her Bachelor’s in Urban Design from CEPT University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Environment Management and Law from National Law University, Delhi. Beyond her professional endeavors, Siddhi enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and sketching during her leisure time.

Nayanika Misra

Nayanika drives climate and inclusive mobility-focused research projects at TUL Foundation. Her primary focus is developing research and advocacy projects under the TUL Foundation’s climate action and inclusive mobility program. She has undertaken city budget analysis, emission modeling for freight transport, quantitative and qualitative surveys, and engaged with stakeholders like city authorities, professionals, academicians, students, and citizens. She actively participates in initiatives and research work that leads to significant transformation. 

Before joining TUL Foundation, Nayanika worked at AIGGPA in Bhopal, wherein she prepared policy recommendations for the government of Madhya Pradesh and assisted in evaluating Madhya Pradesh’s smart cities program. She has completed her Bachelor’s in Sociology from Sophia College, Mumbai, and a Postgraduate Master’s in Public Policy from O.P. Jindal University, Sonipat. Besides her professional pursuits, Nayanika enjoys traveling, reading, sketching, and exploring machine-learning algorithms during her leisure time.

Yug Mehta

Yug drives the visual graphic and creative communication work at the TUL Foundation. He is passionate about communicating stories of people and places. He uses videography and photography to create compelling visuals for these stories. Yug brings a creative flair to his role, aligning his passion for visual representation with the TUL Foundation’s goal of making safe and livable cities.

Yug is an architect with a bachelor’s degree from Anant National University and a pre-graduate diploma in Architecture Assistantship from LJ Polytechnic, Ahmedabad. Beyond his professional endeavors, Yug enjoys trekking, swimming, and exploring diverse forms of movies and music.

Ronit Shah

Ronit’s work at the TUL Foundation aims to identify gaps in urban policies from the lens of inclusivity and equity. Through his research, he seeks to advocate for policies that cater to the invisibilized and marginalized populations of Indian cities. His work currently involves conducting background research on the various programs on the Mobility of the Urban Poor and the Right to Walk campaign.  

Ronit is a master’s student in the ‘Urban Policy and Governance’ program at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and holds a BA in sociology from St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Mumbai. He has previously interned at Artha Global, where he assisted with research on projects under the Centre for Emerging Cities and Technology and Innovation, and at Citizens for Public Leadership as a research intern. He has also interned with the School of Habitat Studies, TISS Mumbai, to work on localizing SDG Goals from a communitarian perspective. Ronit likes to bake, cook, and spend time with animals in his leisure time.
