The urban lab foundation curated and hosted a webinar to discuss innovation in cycle infrastructure on June 3, 2024, world bicycle day titled ““Augmenting Cycle Infrastructure Design: Feasibility of Median Cycle Tracks”. It intended to create a dialogue around cycle infrastructure design with urban designers, planners and mobility experts on innovative possibilities like designing cycle tracks in the median of the street.
Outcomes
- Presented a design research case on median cycle tracks to open the discussion and explored the its potential for trunk cycling network
- Examined challenges of edge cycle tracks, such as disruptions due to frequent property access and others.
- Discussed existing cases and highlighted lessons
- Emphasized the importance of collaboration, dialogue and context-specific design in developing cycling infrastructure in Indian cities.
